The meeting serves to get to know each other and gives all the necessary information. A brief description of the Gender and Space programme is also attached.

The Gender and Space programme combines approaches of art and art theory with the aim of developing themes practically and theoretically and reflecting on one's own approach. The thematic focus of the programme is the reciprocal conditionality of spatial orders (Löw 2001) and gender orders, which are produced, updated and reworked in a processual manner. It examines the ways in which the accessibility and usability of spaces are shaped by attributions based on race, class, gender, ability, age and other factors. For which people are which spaces - depending on race, class, gender, ability, age and other factors - accessible or closed? How can we intervene in these spatial orders?
In joint work, artistic approaches are explored and developed to intervene in spatial orders (which are always also gender orders), to question or rework them. This is done through an intensive examination of theoretical positions and selected works of art as well as through artistic-practical work.
The courses offered are open to all fields of study. A transdisciplinary approach is used, which offers space for the diverse working methods of art and artistic-scientific research. The central point is to open up spaces and cross borders, to spread out and at the same time go into detail and engage in processes of searching, groping, discarding and superimposing. Especially in artistic or artistic-scientific work, there is not only one right way, it is rather a matter of taking one or more of the possible paths and thereby also understanding slippage or apparent failure as productive. The program offers the opportunity to discuss and reflect on ideas and concepts in the group and to support each other in their implementation. In this way, a process of learning from each other is initiated.

At the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, a neutral form (first name last name) is preferred for salutations.
Please let me know how I may address you in communication.
Dear students!
A new term starts and with it the activities of the student representation. As you may know, the ÖH (student union)<https://www.oehakbild.info/> is not only active vis-à-vis the Rectorate and the institutes in order to at least make the interests and concerns of the students audible or, in the best case, to enforce them, but also in various commissions, committees, juries, etc. Participating in meetings of this kind is a great way to learn more about the respective committees and to gain experience.
Involvement in boards and commissions is particularly important for student representation, as decisions relevant to students are made in these areas. Some committees are very work-intensive, but for all committees, the respective delegated student representatives are entitled to a function fee, which is based on the following scheme: https://www.oehakbild.info/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/2021-06-25_Gremienarb….
If you are interested in participating, please send your full name, your matriculation number, your area of studies, for how many years you have been studying, your email address and the title of the committee you are interested in by 05.10.2023 to: oeh(a)akbild.ac.at.
For the winter semester 2023/24, the ÖH Akbild is looking for students who would like to join the following committees:
* Senate
The Senate is one of the three governing bodies of the Academy and consists of 26 members from all curiae (professors, mid-level staff, general staff and students).
The tasks of the Senate are regulated by the University Act: They are, among other things, the enactment and amendment of the statutes on the proposal of the Rectorate, approval of the draft development plan prepared by the Rectorate, preparation of a three-member proposal to the University Council for the election of the Rector. Participation in and decisions on habilitation and appointment procedures, appointment of the CuKos, enactment and amendment of the curricula for ordinary studies and courses, establishment of a working group for equal opportunities issues and nomination of members for the arbitration commission are also part of the tasks.
If you are interested in learning more about the work in senate, you are invited to join via zoom one of the Senate Onboarding dates:

Liebe Studierende!

WORKSHOP SLIME – SS 2024 (2ECTS)
on digital hybridity
In the Summer term 2024, the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, in cooperation with Secession Vienna, presents the workshop SLIME. The workshop is open to all students of the Academy and no prior knowledge is required.
SLIME is a unique hybrid program about our hybrid realities. Curated by Joshua Simon and developed with artists Francesco Finizio, Liv Schulman and others, SLIME takes place at the secession as an on-site event, and an on-line program. It includes commissioned and historical artworks, talks and performances, screenings and workshops (including an actual one for making Slime). As it takes its name from the children's toy - a metastable plasma substance that has both unique material and tactile features and a constant presence online through tutorials and documentation of people playing with it - SLIME tackles the social, cultural, political and sensory operations of digital hybridity.
Where we meet today - at the point of realization - as opposed to the point of production - shifts occur in the ways meaning is organized; from strikes to riots, working class to surplus populations, solidarity to conspiracy and from organization to petty sovereignty. Digital hybridity continues finance's assault on social reproduction. Infused with its belief in digitality as an unmediated mode of operation, it generates sensory and political frontiers - be it ASMR or extreme right-wing politics. In this world, slime is the form of that which has no form - a non-productive high viscosity, an overflowing superfluous matter - an informé of sorts. Exploring this cultural phenomena and its precursors in art, the program at secession looks at our political, economic and cultural realities as these stem from the digital hybridity that is SLIME.
The workshop will also have an online dimension, with some international speakers and artists participating via zoom.
