Liebe Doktorand_innen,
wir möchten euch gerne unser Programm für das kommende Sommersemester vorstellen, das sich wieder aus Veranstaltungen und Workshops sowie dem Angebot zu individueller Beratung zusammensetzt. Außerdem möchten wir auf unsere aktuellen und laufenden Ausschreibungen hinweisen.
All jene, die sich gerne mit Kolleg_innen austauschen und sich über unsere Angebote informieren möchten, sind herzlich eingeladen, am 21. März 2024 von 14.00 bis 15.30 Uhr zum Open Door des Doktoratszentrums<https://www.akbild.ac.at/de/forschung/veranstaltungen/vortrage-events/2024/…> vorbeizuschauen (Raum 201, Schillerplatz 3). Neben Vertreter_innen des Doktoratszentrums wird auch die Studienabteilung anwesend sein und gerne all eure Fragen beantworten. Eine Anmeldung ist nicht erforderlich.
Wir freuen uns außerdem, auch dieses Jahr wieder zur Graduiertenkonferenz<https://www.akbild.ac.at/de/forschung/veranstaltungen/konferenzen/2023/grad…> einladen zu dürfen. Diese wird am 30. April 2024 stattfinden und Doktorand_innen in der Abschlussphase die Möglichkeit geben, ihr Projekt oder einen Teilaspekt davon in einem öffentlichen Vortrag zu präsentieren. Pro Doktorand_in sind eine ca. 25-minütige Präsentation und eben so viel Zeit für die Diskussion vorgesehen. Vorträge und Diskussionen können in Deutsch oder Englisch abgehalten werden. Der Call for Submissions<https://calls.akbild.ac.at/calls/GRAKO24/> ist bis zum 19. März geöffnet.
Das Workshopangebot im Sommersemester legt den Schwerpunkt auf Präsentation:
Im April veranstalten wir den Workshop Academic Writing in English at Doctoral Level: Presenting your Work to the World - Developing and Writing Texts for Presentation Formats<https://www.akbild.ac.at/de/forschung/veranstaltungen/workshops/2024/academ…> mit Helen Palmer. Wir freuen uns auf Anmeldungen von Doktorand_innen, die sich bereits in mittleren und fortgeschrittenen Stadien ihrer Projekte befinden und ihre Fähigkeiten bei der Entwicklung und Erstellung von Präsentationen, z.B. Conference Paper oder Defension, verfeinern möchten. Dieser Workshop wird in Englisch abgehalten.
Im Juni folgt der Workshop Sprechen in besonderen Situationen - Stimm- und Präsentationstraining für Doktorand_innen<https://www.akbild.ac.at/de/forschung/veranstaltungen/workshops/2024/sprech…> mit Jella Jost. Der Workshop vermittelt Grundlagen des Stimm-, Sprech- und Sprachausdrucks, der Atmung, der Modulation, der Intonation, der gesunden Anwendung der Stimme und ihrer Sprechdeutlichkeit sowie der Textgestaltung. Dieser Workshops wird in Deutsch abgehalten.
Anmeldung zu den Workshops ist ab sofort möglich.
Außerdem bieten wir wieder einen Coffee Table Talk<https://www.akbild.ac.at/de/forschung/veranstaltungen/workshops/2024/oeaw-d…> zum Thema "ÖAW DOC-Antrag schreiben" an. Am 22. Mai 2024 laden wir daran interessierte Doktorand_innen herzlich ein, mit uns generelle Fragen zu den Einreichbedingungen zu besprechen und uns auch über konkrete Antragsideen auszutauschen.

* Die nächste TQW DOC+ session findet am 16. Februar um 17.00 Uhr in der Bibliothek des Tanzquartier Wien statt. Es wird aus Elisabeth Lechner: Riot, don't diet! gelesen. we would like to give you an overview of our program for the upcoming summer semester, which once again consists of events and workshops as well as services for individual consultation. We would also like to draw your attention to our current and ongoing calls.
Everyone who would like to exchange ideas with other doctoral students and colleagues and find out about our offers is invited to visit the Open Door<https://www.akbild.ac.at/en/research/events/lectures-events/2024/summer-sem…> of the Center for Doctoral Studies on March 21, 2024, from 2:00 to 3:30 pm (room 201, Schillerplatz 3). In addition to the Center for Doctoral Studies, the Registrar's Office (Studien- und Prüfungsabteilung) will be represented and happy to answer all your questions. Registration is not required.
We are pleased to invite you to another Graduate Conference<https://www.akbild.ac.at/en/research/events/conferences/2023/graduate-confe…> this year - the conference will take place on April 30, 2024. Advanced doctoral/Ph.D. candidates will have the opportunity to give a public presentation about their dissertation/Ph.D. project or an aspect of it. Every presenter has a 25-minute time slot for the talk and the same amount of time available for a discussion. Presentations and discussion can be in German or English. We are looking forward to your submissions - the call<https://calls.akbild.ac.at/calls/GRAKO24/> is open until March 19.
Two workshops offered in the summer semester will focus on presentation:
In April we will host the workshop Academic Writing in English at Doctoral Level: Presenting your Work to the World - Developing and Writing Texts for Presentation Formats<https://www.akbild.ac.at/en/research/events/workshops/2024/academic-writing…> with Helen Palmer. We are looking forward for registrations from doctoral candidates who are already in intermediate and more advanced stages of their projects and would like to refine their skills in developing and writing presentations, e.g. conference paper or thesis defense. This workshop will be held in English.
In June the workshop Speaking in Special Situations - Voice and Presentation Training for Doctoral Candidates with Jella Jost will follow. The workshop teaches the basics of voice, speech and language expression, breathing, modulation, intonation, the healthy use of the voice and its clarity as well as text composition. This workshop will be taught in German.
Registration to both workshops is possible now.
On May 22, 2024, all interested doctoral candidates are cordially invited to a Coffee Table Talk<https://www.akbild.ac.at/en/research/events/workshops/2024/oaw-doc-applicat…> on the topic "ÖAW DOC application". We will discuss general questions about the submission requirements and also talk about your specific application ideas.
