Dear Class, On January 11th, we will show the performance "Buy Buy Baby" at Cafe Carina. It's a mixture of performance and noise-rock concert presented in the form of an infomercial (Dauerwerbesendung). The performance is about mass consumption and societal dynamics, particularly exploring the roles of women* in these contexts, especially in advertising. It also addresses the commercialization of art.
AND there is also another great band playing afterwards, called Das Schottische Prinzip.
If you have time, I would be very happy to see you there :)
xx Nora
BUY BUY BABY is back! With a brand-new band and even better deals! The music - louder, the products - better than ever!
Everything is great. The music sets the rhythm. Everything is perfect. Everything is on sale. Just before Christmas, we present the greatest products at unbeatable prices. If you don't act now, you'll miss the chance of a lifetime!
A performance about consumption, wrapped up in an infomercial. In a time of mass consumption and the never-ending paradise-like life of a society that has everything, it's easy to lose track. Lose track of what you already have and what you still desire. "Buy Buy Baby" positions itself between a concert and theater performance, confronting the audience with questions about their own consumption habits and those of the society we live in.
